On May 17, 2022, the world lost a hero.
Vangelis Papathanassiou departed this worldly plane. He was, at the time, being treated for COVID-19 at a hospital in Paris.
Vangelis is perhaps best known for his work on Hugh Hudson’s 1981 film, Chariots of Fire. The theme he produced for this film has taken on a semantic meaning of its own, suggesting triumph, determination, and pay-off after monumental effort.
And it’s been parodied to shit.
RIP Vangelis.
